Just Released!
David's new CD, containing almost entirely his own songs,
was released in the early Fall of 2015.
David Caughey has been singing and accompanying himself on guitar since his graduate student days in the 1960s (think Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, and Judy Collins). His more recent repertoire includes songs by John Denver, Bruce Springsteen and Mary Chapin Carpenter as well as songs by earlier artists of social justice, such as Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie.
David's performances include not only his own voice and guitar, but a seamless use of real-time recording, playback, and over-dubbing (using Echoplex digital 'looping' technology) that allows him to layer harmonies and alternative guitar and rhythm parts on top of his vocals.
In addition to leading the New Creation Singers at the First Baptist Church in Ithaca, David has performed his solo act a number of years since 2006 at the Ithaca Festival and at other local venues, and has composed and recorded the songs to which First Baptist has marched in the 2014, 2015, and 2018 Ithaca Festival Parades.
